Victory over the Darkness

Neil T. Anderson

Victory over the Darkness The subtitle of this book summarizes its content best: Realizing the power of your identity in Christ. When we become Christians, we receive a new identity in Christ: by His grace, we are adopted by our heavenly Father as His own child. And that changes all.

We all carry with us a past we cannot change, and for many people this is a burden. Christ promises to set us free, and open a future for us in which we can be changed. Not by our own strength, but by grace. When the Christian faith speaks about renewal and healing of our lives, it's all about admitting we can't do it ourselves, and allowing Christ to change us from within.

In this book and its (more famous) follow -up, The Bondage Breaker, Anderson deals with issues of inner healing, deliverance and spiritual battle. But while most authors on these matters lose themselves in speculations on all kinds of demons and how to deal with them, Anderson stays close to the Bible. We must not focus on demons, even if we might be facing their influences in our broken lives, but on God's truth about who we are in Christ. That's what sets us truly free.
